MEDICAL
FIRST AID RESPONDER, EMERGENCY MEDICAL RESPONDER, EMERGENCY RESOURCE COORDINATOR AND CADETS
One of the biggest problems facing promoters and event organisers is determining the level of First Aid required based on the risk. At SaveLife our role is to look after your medical risk assessment and provide advice on the level of medical coverage required. For too long now, people have been over servicing and making you the client pay for it. A local sporting event may not require a doctor standing by, however high risk events such as motor cross would benefit from this level of coverage. Check out 'The Teams' tab to get an idea of what your event will need.
SaveLife can provide you with our experience and advice on the ideal level of coverage for your event.
If an event presents a high life risk, the provision of Doctors can be a consideration, as can the implementation of 'User Pays' resources from Ambulance NSW.
As part of this and other services medical traige rooms can be established to treat the sick and injured.
The exact level of medical services and the equpment needed in the first aid room will form part of your risk assessment.
If your event or production is expecting a large number of people or activities that may present complex medical problems based upon your risk assessment, the provision of Paramedics or Nurses may be required.
Every year students complete qualifications in nursing and paramedicine. Having a qualification and having the experience to apply the knowledge is something altogether different. SaveLife staff will not only hold the required qualifications and registrations, they will also have vast experience in their chosen field.
An Emergency Medical Technician (Basic life support medic) is an individual who has completed accredited training in emergency patient care to provide rapid access to clinical assessment, treatment and care in the out-of-hospital environment (particularly in rural and remote areas). A number of SaveLife staff that fulfil this role may have Degrees/Diplomas in Para-medicine or Nursing. They will also hold Advanced First Aid qualifications, or equivalent, with additional training in Pain Management, Anaphylaxis and Defibrillation.
Staff that fulfil this role will have extensive experience in Advanced First Aid, or equivalent, and will hold a Cert III in basic Health Care or equivalent to their chosen specialty or industry.
As with all First Responders the Advanced FAR will hold Advanced Applied First Aid qualifications , or equivalent, with additional training in Pain Management, Anaphylaxis and Defibrillation and have a minimum of 2 years experience in event response and injury management.
This is the minimum skill level that is required at any event. First Responders hold Advanced Applied First Aid qualifications, or equivalent, with additional training in Pain Management, Anaphylaxis and Defibrillation. Always working in a team of two, patient care is aimed to cover the minimum Workcover requirements. All SaveLife First Responder have a minimum of 2 years experience in event response and injury management.
If your event or production involves people carrying out physical activities, such as sporting competitions, one of SaveLife's licensed Physiotherapists may be the answer. SaveLife's physiotherapists have provided state and national level sporting teams and event with physio services for a number of years.

Some events due to their size or risk level require a team of EMR's, FAR's and Fire Wardens. When this is the case an Emergency Response Coordinator (ERC) is brought into the team to bring together all the resources on site and to ensure synergy is achieved. Prior to the event commencement, the ERC will ensure all agreed risk mitigation actions are in place and the relevant checks are completed. During the event the ERC will also coordinate emergencies and be available to respond to emergencies during peaks and triage patients whilst taking control of the incident.
SaveLife decided in 2012, it was time to give back to the industry in which we have been so successful. An invitation was extended to students in the process of completing their Duke of Edinburgh Award, to acquire skills and volunteer time in the first aid response field. Cadets must successfully complete the Apply First Aid course before they are allowed to attend any event and will always work under the supervision on a 1:1 basis. Cadets provide the ability for SaveLife to reduce costs to you the organiser of an event where larger scale medical teams may be required. The use of Cadets may be included as part of the Risk Assessment and may not be suitable for all events.
